I have a few benign polyps in my stomach. i read that the long term use of prilosec may cause polyps in stomach. 14 days of treatment may be enough?

Gastric polyps/Omep.: One of the common side effects of long term use of Prilosec (or proton pump inhibitors) is gastric polyp formation. These are benign polyps. However, if the polyps are greater than 1cm, suggest to discontinue prilosec. Suggest using histamine receptor blockers (zantac, Pepcid (famotidine) ac, etc) instead to control gerd along with lifestyle modification. Discuss with your local doctors.
