A member asked:

My 15mo+ gal's skin around her fingers keep peeling off, she has hfmd 2 weeks ago, may i know what is the cause of the peeling?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hand foot and mouth: Hand, foot and mouth disease is a human syndrome caused by intestinal viruses of the picornaviridae family. The most common are coxsackie a virus and enterovirus 71. After recovery some patients will lose fingernails or toenails and perhaps skin peeling up to 4 weeks after resolution of infection. This may or may not be what you're seeing. Have a pediatrician look at her. Best wishes.
