It Depends: There are two types of procedure for the abdomen. A panniculectomy or abdominal apron resection, will remove the excess skin that hangs below your waistline under the bellybutton. It will not affect the excess skin or fat above the belly button. If you would like to improve the entire abdomen, you would have to undergo an abdominoplasty.

Depends: During abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) excess fat/skin is removed and abdominal wall muscles may be tightened. Panniculectomy only removes excess fat/skin bellow the level of umbilicus and the abdominal muscles are not tightened. Therefore decision between these procedures is based on what is the goal of the operation.

Depends...: Much will depend on your physical examination. If you are at all a candidate for abdominoplasty surgery, the aesthetic results of abdominoplasty surgery (tummy tuck) are generally much better than panniculectomy only. Discuss your goals with your plastic surgeon, who after physical examination and a full communication of your goals, will be your best resource for accurate advice.
