Extremely Unlikely: Although nothing is impossible, brain tumors do not cause sharp, intermittent scalp pain. They generally cause nausea, vomiting, headaches, vision or balance problems.

Very unlikely: A sudden transient pain in the scalp is more likely to be caused by a nerve irritation. Depending on the location, the potential nerve that is the culprit could be determined. Such nerve irritation is rarely caused by a brain tumor. The precise cause is often not determined, but pain relief can usually be achieved without this. If these episodes are bothersome, consult a neurologist.
