ADHD: Psychotherapy focused on teaching techniques to improve concentraton and focus could be very helpful, medication alone is often not enough to produce postive results. Also aerobic exercise is quite helpful in improving focus as well as a nutriet dense diet. Best wishes.

Hyperactivity: There are several alternatives to his current medications for yoiu to discuss with his doctor. These include addrerall/vyvanse, provigil/nuvigil, wellbutrin, (bupropion) Imipramine and amantadine. I doubt valium would be helpful and might even make things worse.
