Stimulants can : Induce vocal tics. Tell your doctor so (s) he can try the other class of stimulants (adderall, vyvanse) &/or non-stimulant medication. The tic won't hurt you in any way except socially, but that's reason enough to try something else.It may persist for a while after you change medications.

Sometimes: Sometimes certain tic-like behaviors can develop on the stimulant medications. Clearing one's throat can be a tic or just a dry mouth/dry throat response. Chewing gum, hard candies, and/or mints may lubricate the throat and help with the clearing symptom.
