Febrile seizures: You are describing a febrile seizure. They do not predispose you to epilepsy, but a family history does increase your chance, so the fact his brother had epilepsy is more telling toward that end. You say there was 'no viral infection', yet i would say there is absolutely no way you can rule out every possible minor little virus as the cause of his fever. Autoimmune problems can also cause fevers.

Seizure w/fever: It i possible that a seizure can cause a rise in temperature if it involves the area of the brain that servies as a thermostat. given your other child's history of seizures, I would be careful calling this a febsimple febrile seizure. Your child should have a complete evaluation for epilepsy.
