A member asked:

Chronic subdural hematoma, 8 wks, no enlargement on 2nd ct. another in 3 wks. chief symptom is total congestion and vacuum sensation in ears. cause? normal? does it gradually subside? how does blood reabsorb; how long could it take? thx! mike

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not normal: This is a bleed under the brain covering, and is abnormal. Typically from trauma, or an aneurysm or mass. Repeat CT or MRI will eventually reveal the cause, or a vascular dye study within the brain is sometimes used as well. Fortunately, your symptoms sound mild and controlled, and the bleed controlled. Absorption depends on size and if ooze is present. Weeks to months typically.good luck
