Great benefit: There's no hard number, but you'll be at about 1/10 the risk of serious heart disease in middle age compared with peers who are slugs. Most important is establishing habits now, at your age. No matter what direction your life takes -- the time commitments of job & family -- i hope that staying fit will always be a priority. It's a great gift you can give yourself and the people you love.
