A member asked:

I have a sinus infection that is causing horrible pain in the maxillary area and my ears are clogged. safe to use a nasal spray while breastfeeding?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes.: The saline sinus sprays are completely fine. Things like afrin (oxymetazoline) work on the blood vessels to decrease their size. This type of medicine also can work on the blood vessels of the breast to decrease milk production. It is more of a problem when you take a decongestant by mouth but still a small risk. Check out lacmed app as a resource for meds and breast feeding. Feel better!
