Lymph nodes: Most likely these are submental lymph nodes that drain infection or inflammation in skin of the chin, lower lip and gums, front floor of mouth, lower incisors, and tongue tip. They may be the first indication of canker sore. Location of pain with eating or chewing probably is site of the primary problem. May need dental or ENT eval for definite diagnosis.
