Need more info: Your question is too broad. Need more info. Pain in the ankles can be caused by multiple things including swelling and can be influenced by many things. You need to see your primary doctor and jot down more info about when do you notice the the pain, does it swell, did you injure it, etc. Get checked.

Circulatory.: It could be a circulation problem. sometimes people with varicose veins can get that swelling. Try compressive stockings.
