Becoming fat: Sometimes children grow up to be fat because they never learned good diet and exercise habits as children. Thin children may have many opportunities to play and be active as children and may not have the same opportunities nor time so they neglect to fit it in if it isn't already a habit. Metabolism may slow as they age which may also contribute but the majority is due to lifestyle.
