Need a x-ray: If you haven't had a x-ray you need one usually fractures will heal in about 6wks. But the soft tissue injury associated with a fracture can take up to a yr. To reach maximum medical improvement see your local hand surgeon.

Thumb injury : That has persistent joint pain several months later can indicate a ligament tear . A fracture or a joint injury that had both. Arthritic joints if bruised and swollen may also take longer than one thinks to feel better. Common ligament tears that need treatment and are sometimes unit inched initially include the mcp ulnar and radial collateral ligaments . See a hand surgeon.
