How difficult is med school ? how many years to be able to practice? if your a little above average intelligence can you make it through?

Varies: It's hard work, lots of material to learn. It's 4 yrs of college, 4 yrs of med school then residency. Residency varies by specialty (3 for med and peds, 5 for gen surgery, etc etc). Most people who get in will make it through, by then you've shown that you can do the work, have the discipline, etc.
