OBs and MFMs agree: It is essential that women with cramping, pain at 32wk be on l&d for examination and monitoring for contractions and baby. Women with contractions are at risk for changing the cervix (thinning or dilating). That is labor. Before 37wk, it is preterm. Preemies can have problems and need extra care in special nurseries. It takes time to evaluate, treat, transfer if needed. Call OB also to mobilize.
