You don't want to: Rdw means reed blood cell distribution width is a measure of the variation of red blood cell (rbc) volume. Usually rbcs are a standard size of about 6-8 μm. Certain disorders, however, cause a significant variation in cell size. Certain disorders, like iron or vit B12 deficiency- cause a significant variation in cell size- thus will increase rdw. It is used to differentiate the cause of anemia.
