See doctor: Clarify how many days have you been sick you need to see a doctor to find out whether it is bacteria or viral.You may have started with a viral , but it can progress to bacterial infection.

Your doctor should evaluate you and you may need further testing like sputum culture, lab work or even a chest x-ray. Treatment may include antibiotics and other meds to help with symptom relief. If your symptoms worsen or you develop shortness of breath, go to an er for more urgent evaluation.
