Bleeding : If an extraction site continues to bleed, place a dry tea bag over the site and bite on it for about 20-30 minutes. The tannins in black tea will help. Also, avoid sucking through a straw or rinsing, which will dislodge a blood clot. If it continues to bleed, call the dentist who removed the tooth for further instruction.

Post-op bleeding: You failed to mention how long it has been since the extraction. Some oozing is to be expected, even days later if the area is irritated by tooth brushing, eating, or you tongue rubbing over the area. Things usually look worse than they are. Keep your head elevated, limit physical activity, avoid using a straw, rinsing or spitting out. Gently bite on gauze or a wet tea bag for 30 minutes.
