Depends.....: Although there can be long, symptom-free intervals, asthma is an incurable disease so there are no "former asthma patients". Cats can contribute to asthma exacerbations in a patient with asthma and a cat allergy. An allergist can determine if an asthmatic is allergic to cats and, if so, can recommend treatments.
