My 96 year old grandfather is losing control and becoming very unruly and irrational. what can we do if nursing home is no longer an option?

Geriatric eval: The underlying etilogy of the behavioral changes should be determined if possible. See a geriatrician or good internist. There are no meds approved for behavioral problems in dementia, but environmental changes mybe needed and teaching the family as well. Is there depression? Older adults often present atypically with agitation/irritability. Maximizing sensory deficits are important as well.
