Breastfeeding a 1 year old, eats solids and drinks milk but still nursing, mainly for pacification. should i wing or wait till she is ready?

Pacification: At a year she can easily give up the breast. As you yourself say , you are using the breast for pacification.You can stop as you wish, however, you may have 2-3 days of crying.

Joint decision: The nutrition & nurturing benefits of breast feeding are well accepted, with some drop off in the nutrition aspect after kids are well into solids @ 8m.The nurturing aspect varies with the kid. If baby makes short work of the feed, 10min/side & wiggles to get down they are showing they don't value the nurturing as much as others. These kids can be weaned as you desire. Those that linger need longer.
