Possible and good: Many people work with a psychologist for therapy and a psychiatrist for medication management. I think it's a good idea. Take care, .

PhD and MD works: Psychiatrists are medical doctors who received additional training in psychiatric illnesses.Psychologists have graduate degrees in the field of psychology(usually with some area of focus). They can both evaluate & treat but in most areas only psychiatrists can prescribe. If there is a there is a specific area (ex:neuropsychology) that is of interest to the md, may also pursue a phd in addition.

Therapy vs meds: Speaking very generally, most psychologists hold either a PhD or a PsyD degree (I hold both) and practice psychotherapy. Psychiatrists hold either an MD or a DO degree, and they prescribe psychotropic medications, and generally do not do all that much therapy these days, but years ago psychiatrists would do both.
