Yes: Psychiatrist have to attend 4 years of medical school, 3- 4 years of a residency and often an additiona 2 years of a fellowship like one in child and adolescent psychiatry. They can function as a person with expertise in medicine and get training in psychology/therapy also . They can use meds and can treat medical-psych. Disorders due to medical trng. Educ- psych. 22 ed yrs vs. Psycho- 9 yrs.

Of course: Earnings depend upon the type of illness and patients that are treated. Some offer group therapy which brings in more money as each pay for the same hour. Some write books and some become celebrities. There are many ways to make money in these fields and some are more economically successful than others.
