Different motives: Here's a simplistic account from a non-psychiatrist who's seen a lot. Both treat others badly. Sociopaths are indifferent to the feelings of others, and cause pain because they enjoy doing it. They don't care. Aspies cannot understand the feelings of others and do not mean to be jerks. They are very grateful when guided to being more diplomatic and able to read others.
