Depends on cause: Treating the pain depends first on identifying the underlying cause of the pain and its location. Many things can cause pain - arthritis, fractures, muscle strain, nerve compression. He should get checked out by a doctor for evaluation and treatment. Depending on the diagnosis, physical and occupational therapy may be useful. Doctor can prescribe medications depending on type / location of pain.
