A member asked:

Can the new drug for cystic fibrosis, kalydeco, (ivacaftor) be taken by someone with copd..would it help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: CF is a disease where the mucous your lungs make is very thick. COPD is caused by smoking (usually) and results in loss of lung tissue. Chronic bronchitis is one form of copd, but the mucous produced is normal. Talk to your doctor.
