Almost like placebos: Studies have shown that glucosamine chondroitin is only about 5% better than placebo. That mean if 20 people take it, 19 are wasting their money. What's been shown is that people who exercise regularly have stronger joints, bones and cartilage than people who are sedentary. Save your money, get outside.

Yes: The combination of glucosamine and chondroitin has been shown in studies to (1) provide a degree of pain relief in the short term, and (2) trigger growth of new cartilage when taken for at least two years straight. So it can help you pain and reverse some of the chronic damage. You can find this in the health food store. MSM is not necessary and adds to the cost of the product.

Motion/Lotion: These supplement are a total waste of your money. To keep the joint of the body healthy, routine exercise is the only proven method. Include stretching and wide range of motion activities without heavy stress daily. Motion is the lotion that keeps joints healthy.

Glucosamine: Glucosamine by mouth helps knees. Chondroitin does not seem to be important or helpful as a supplement, and makes the glucosamine cost more. Glucosamine through the skin in a cream will help most any joint in the body.
