Support: He's getting near the outside range of normal. At this age, he should have passed all necessary milestones--to be able to tell you, to be able to pull down his pants, etc. Now, he just needs to be motivated. Rewards systems can be very helpful. For example, spider-man underoos -- only big boys can wear them.

Patience: Boys nervous system matures slower than girls. Toilet training will eventually appear. My grandson was 31/2 years before he was finally toilet trained. Have to have patience.

The best time to put: him on the potty is 15 minutes after a meal with his feet on a stool like a Little Looster. Let him blow bubbles. Put small, safe toys in a clear bowl on top of the fridge. When he asks what they're for, say, " Oh, they're for when you choose to pee-pee & poo-poo on the potty." Have a playdate with a potty-trained peer. Reward the peer for using the toilet without referencing your son's refusal.
