Aqua: Try aqua exercises to ease your joints and to cool the areas. Join your local pool, stay in the cooler pools, avoid hot tubs as heat increases inflammation.

Low impact: Post traumatic arthritis is very common after a bad ankle fracture (not the metal). Some people take an anti-imfamatory medicine (aspirin) 40 minutes before exercising then do low impact exercising (e.g. Cycling , water exercise ) . Then icing down after the activity to decrease the pain and swelling. See orthopedist to see if injections or surgery may help. Ankle arthritis treatment is evolving.
