Coarsening?: I am not aware of pancreatic echotexture "coarsening" on ultrasound. However, if there is a concern about the pancreas an MRI should adequately depict anatomy (absence of masses, etc) and pancreatic duct architecture.

Mrcp Pancreas: You may have had pancreatitis 2 months ago with your pain. At that time you may have had elevated liver and pancreatic enzymes. Your doctor ordered an ultrasound and now the mri. The MRI will look at the pancreas for inflammation and the pancreatic duct. Make sure he/she explains why and what they believe will benefit by ordering the test and risks and complications.
