A member asked:

Is there a test for genital warts when there are no visible signs? or is the hpv test only done for high risk types that cause cancer?

For Women : A pap smear could reveal the presence of hpv even if no obvious warts are seen.

HPV vaccine: Hpv vaccine protects against types 16 & 18 which are linked to increase in cancer risk. Gardasil also protects against 6 & 11 which are linked to genital warts. Testing for hpv type is typically performed in the lab at the time of pap smear reading. There's no good way to test for genital awards if warts aren't visible to naked eye.
