Variability: No case of anything is textbook. I've actually seen a couple of graves' folks recently and they hadn't lost weight. Graves' or something else may have stimulated your appetite or made you feel crummy so you stopped exercising. The weight loss generally stops as soon as you become euthyroid. Eat sensibly and get back to your regular fitness activities as your phyiscian permits.

Not unusual.: The textbooks usually say that graves' causes weight loss. However, I have had many, many people with graves' guarantee me that they gained weight uncontrollably. Get the graves' under control first, and then it'll at least be a fair fight with the weight/diet/exercise balance.
