Yes: Your doctor should be able to offer a pill to relax you and make the injections easier. You can't be made unconscious, but it should calm you enough that the minute or so it takes to numb your toe will be no big deal. They can also use cold spray on the skin so you hardly feel the actual needle stick, just a little stinging from the medication.

No: Can have doctor's give you some strong pain meds if pain very uncomfortable but no one pill will knock you out.

Medication: Yes, there's medication to help you relax, just ask for it. I usually don't need to give it out, but it's available if needed.
