Try it: As long as the stiffness is not related to joint arthritis/degeneration/fusion, then any form of stretching, massaging and exercise is worth a try. With your history of poliomyelitis, there may be a spasm in the tendon holding the position. You may need to have an aggressive form of stretching in the form of a splint and/or afo. Consider physical therapy.
