Vitreous changes: Floaters are common and usually due to a change in the protein composition of the vitreous (inside gel of the eye). Rarely these changes can cause a significant change in the retina (like a hole or tear). If the floaters are worse, see an eyemd for evaluation.

Floaters / pregnancy: There is no direct association between the development of floaters and being pregnant. The onset of new floaters in the early 30's is not unusual and has to do with changes that occur in the vitreous gel of the eye (clear fluid in the center). When proteins clump in the vitreous due to natural age related changes, small particles form. If large enough and in the right location, floaters appear.
