Can a hemorrhoid be on the perianal skin an inch above the anal opening?

Yes: That's called an external hemorrhoid. Can be caused by straining at stools from constipation, irritation and or trauma in area. Sitz baths can help, but if bleeding or painful, see doctor or surgeon regarding treatment options.

No: A lump an inch away from the anal opening is another problem. Hemorrhoids are in the anal canal or at the anal opening. An inch away would make me think about an abscess or fistula opening or perhaps a wart. You should be examined by your physician.

Tag : A hemorrhoid involves the anus. Internal are painless while external may be painful. If you have a bump or mass about 1 inch away from the anus it could be a wart, it could be an abscess, it could be a tag. If it persists then see your doctor they will refer you to a specialist. Get your mother and father to talk to you if any family history exists of inflammatory bowel disease.

See below: Hemorrhoids can be internal or external. Internal are higher in the rectum, they are painless and you cannot see/feel them (they might bleed). External hemorrhoids are lower in the anus, painful and may prolapse to the point where you can see/feel them outside of the anus. If the lesion you are describing is completely outside of anus, it is not a hemorrhoid (could be a skin tag or something else).
