Subungual hematoma: You will likely develop a clot beneath your fingernail. Your nail will likely fall off in the next 3-6 months if not sooner. If the pain is unbearable, you can see a physician about drilling a small hole in your fingernail or removing the nail completely.

Visit MD: 23 year old lady who slammed finger in car door. You should visit the ER to make sure your finger is neurovascularly intact meaning there is blood flow to the finger and the nerves are functioning. You may require some x rays of your hand to make sure you did not fracture one of your phalanges.You also may need a tetanus shot. The subungual hematoma should be drained as well. Good luck. Apply ice.
