If my birth control makes me depressed, should i talk to my doctor about switching to something with more ethinyl and levonorgestrel?

OCP and depression: Usually the androgen/progesterone component of the oral contraceptive medication increases depression, but the shifting levels of hormones also can destabilize mood. Track your mood across your cycle and take this data to your md to discuss the problem and make a clear alternative plan. If you are particularly sensitive to hormones, consider an iud for birth control instead of hormones.

Discuss: Discuss all risks benefits and side effects with your physician. If your birth control is making you depressed you should ask about other options.
