Possibly: Needing a root canal usually means there is an infection or abcess that needs to be treated. You are talking about putting this off for 4 months, not 4 days. The infection has the potential to spread to your mouth/jaw and face, and that kind of spread of infection in your body could indeed be bad for your baby. It's ok to have a root canal with local anesthesia while pregnant- better for you & baby.

Don't wait: The procedure will not harm your baby. The complications of waiting and having the problem escalate can be problematic for you and the baby.

Check w/obstetrician: A tooth that needs root canal often does because it is infected! ask your obstetrician first which is of greater risk- waiting with an infected tooth or getting the root canal treatment done. Base your actions on their professional advise.

Root canal + Preg: Need for root canal treatment usually means infection of the affected tooth. Risk of untreated infection spreading and causing harm to both you and your child far exceeds the risk of complications from the root canal procedure. In other words, have the root canal done as soon as possible. Recommend treatment by a root canal specialist, an Endodontist. Dentist and OBGyn should communicate.
