A member asked:

Are doctors accountable for causing a patient to stay in pain by refusing to give pain meds?

Comment or question?: In the us, dr's are there to provide patients with what the dr believe is the best course of treatment for the patient and the patient has the right to make an informed consent decision in that process. No prudent doctor would intend to cause pain to a patient but sometimes things don't go the way we intended it to. Many times giving pain meds does more harm than good & that too is accountability.
