It is new and: It is new and unfamiliar to be less shy. For 32 years you related to the world as a shy person, now you are not sure how to act & it will be scary at first. You may want to talk with a therapist and learn some new ways of interacting with people. In time, it will be less frightening and enjoyable. It's worth the effort in the long run. Let me know how it goes.
