Focus on them: Shy people tend to be preoccupied with themselves (e.g., will people like me?) when they encounter others.Consider, the next time you meet someone, focus on learning about the other person (a favorite subject for many). This will take the spotlight off you, and may help you relax. Relaxation and mindfulness skills can also be invaluable as can developing interests to bolster your self-confidence.

Exposure: Shyness like other traits, can be modified, but not completely eliminated. Exposing yourself to new situations with unknown people repeatedly may ib essence desensitize yourself to shyness in these situations. By forcing yourself to meet and interact with ubfamiliar people may also boost your self- confidence.
