Possibly: Low thyroid levels affect every part of your body, including your brain. Depression can occur with hypothyroidism, not usually anxiety, though anxiety is common in general. I do not think the exact mechanism is known for why hypothyroidism causes depression, but probably involves changes in neurotransmitter levels.
