Similar: The symptoms of clinical depression vs. Hypothyroid depression are very similar but the treatments are different. A new patient with depression symptoms should have their thyroid function tested to rule it out as a cause. The depression caused by the thyroid condition will respond well to thyroid medication not antidepressants.
