First, see a doctor: It may not be cervicitis, but a host of other conditions. See a gyn doctor first before trying "grocery or drug store" remedies.

Cervicitis: It is usually caused by a bacteria, that requires antibiotics for treatment. In usa you cannot buy those antibiotics over the counter.Plus if there is cervicitis, chances of harboring another std is quite high and an std screen is recommended. Seeing an ob/gyn is more that recomended.

How doest the doctor know if you have cervicitis?

Usually discharge: Cervicitis means "inflammation of the cervix". This can result from infectious causes (such as an std) or from non-infectious causes (such as ectropion, where the inside part of the cervix sticks out a little bit , which often happens in pregnancy). Inflammation in the cervix causes discharge, so you should follow-up with your doctor to ensure that any infection is treated.

Not necessarily: Cervicitis is simply an inflammation of the cervix. It could be inflammed for many different reasons. Std's are some causes. There are more benign causes of cervicitis though that are not sexually transmitted. If concerned, see your pcp or gyn physician.

Inflammation: Cervicitis simply means inflammation of the cervix. This could be from yeast or from an std (bacterial or viral). It would take cultures and/or a biopsy to know which.

Depends on cause: More important , you also may have been exposed to other pathogens, which can be devastating. It you do not have access to primary care or an urologist. Check into a public health clinic.
