Lacunar stroke?: The term lacuna describes a small infarct or cavity in the brain that develops after resorption of necrotic tissue from an infarcted area a lacuna occurs from arterial insufficiency in the distribution of a penetrating branch of a large cerebral artery. This is not likely to either progress or regress, and if it has not created symptoms yet, will probably not. But risk of future stroke exists.
