Caution needed: You may well need the Methylprednisolone for a medical condition, but please make sure your doctors know you also have bipolar disorder. Also make sure you maintain your bipolar medications, and monitor your sleep pattern, etc closely. First sign of anything out of the ordinary, inform your physicians.

It should be fine: They is some risk of your mood going too high or too low with steroid treatment. On a rare occasion a psychotic reaction can occur. I see such problems 2-4 times a year in my practice, so it is not that prevalent (i have 800 patients). If you start to develop insomnia or mood swings or mixed moods, call your psychiatrist and the matter can be cleared up with low-dose antipsychotic medication.
