There are many : Reasons why it happens but the absence of a radial artery may affect your hand significantly or not at all. The anatomy of the arterial system of the wrist and hand has a wide variation. Some have a ulnar artery dependent system, others mixed, others radial dependent. For example: the radial artery is often harvested for coronary grafts, or used for a shunt for dialysis. So more important is why?
