Depends on variables: In some parts of the world rabies is much more prevalent than the us where cats and dogs are rarely infected.Your local health authority should be able to provide you with an idea if rabies is found in your area and if stray cats might be a problem. Please contact them for guidance.Good wound care immediately is one of your best methods of limiting risk.

Cat scratch: Of greater concern would be cat scratch fever if the skin is broken rather than rabies.

Rabies: Rabies is a preventable viral disease of mammals most often transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal. The vast majority of rabies cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) each year occur in wild animals like raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes. http://www.cdc.gov/rabies/index.html
